Lecture On Kykkos Monastery

by Rev Fr Chris Flesoras

This Thursday evening, September 3, Momcilo Pantovic of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos in Cyprus will offer a talk on the Monastery as well as on the broader theme of Orthodox spirituality in Cyprus, beginning at 7PM (the discussion will last for approximately one hour).

Momcilo, who was born in Kraljevo in central Serbia has been affiliated with Kykkos since 2006.  His primary responsibility is to assist the thousands of pilgrims that visit the
Monastery each year to venerate the Holy Icon of the Theotokos painted by the hand of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke.

As a boy, he was blessed to spend much time at the revered Zica Monastery, established by St. Sava, also the place where his parents were married.  He completed his
secondary schooling in Serbia and then continued briefly in New York.

Over the years, Momcilo has traveled several times to both the Holy Land as well as to Mount Athos. It was after his 2006 trip to the Holy Land that he stopped visited Cyprus,
meeting a pious and holy priest monk of Kykkos Monastery, Fr. Ephraim (who was once in possession of the Holy Relic of Saint Anna that we received from Mount Athos in 2005).
Upon Father’‘s invitation, Momcilo took of residency at the Monastery.

We welcome him to our community and look forward to his presentation tomorrow evening.
