We are blessed with many dedicated Orthodox Christian boys and young men who faithfully serve their Lord in the Holy Sanctuary for Divine Services. Serving in the Holy Altar is not a right but a blessing and responsibility. Acolytes are to arrive early for services, appropriately dressed, with the proper attitudes, having prepared to receive the Eucharist through fasting, a sustained prayer life, and participation in the Mystery of Confession. They are to maintain respect for and attentiveness to clergy and their peers, remaining focused on prayer, ideally as though it were their first time serving in the Holy Altar or their last.
